Models cost a lot of money these days, and I am not talking about the Kate Mosses of the world. Simple, boring catalogue shoots can run very expensive when you count the usage (the royalties the model gets for their face appearing somewhere) Some companies get creative and try to art direct the faces out of the image. They must be exited that the Japanese Actroid DER- has made its debut; no more usage fees!! No need to feed her and she will always act as you wish. I can’t wait for the first Actroid DER- print campaign…
In Radiohead’s new video for “House of Cards”, no cameras or lights were used. Instead, 3D plotting technologies collected information about the shapes and relative distances of objects. The video was created entirely with visualizations of that data.

Eatcake again is pulling all stops for their party flyer. If you see the Janet Jackson inspiration good, if not, Oh well…Eatcake! (FYI, Toronto event)
And I have to fist one to admit I could not see the appeal of men in uniform, but after a couple of Bal des pompiers in Paris I am ready to say I have changed my mind. Ooooh la la la la la la…
I wonder why I love music that sounds like video games…
Could it be the fact that I would sit for 45 minutes waiting for games to load up on my Commodoro 64 -my very first computer ever- and the the joy of hearing the sounds of the games left a psychologicla inprint on me.
Synthetisers = Joy
It’s time to revive the memory of China Machado; the very first ethnic model of all times. There is a big hoopla going on about the July Italian Vogue all black issue with black models gracing the cover and fashion editorials. So I say it is time to look at history and celebrate the very first Western world non-Caucasian cover girl. I took note of China Machado at the Avedon Retrospective in Paris. The exhibition itself was a bit underwhelming as I have seen most of the photos many times. Of course it is nice to see the original prints but excitement came in the way of China (Sheena) Machado.
The A in Avedon is for Amazing.
Long live China!

Courtship Dating by Crystal Castles (And yes! they are Canadian…)
My friend Calla called it first when we first heard about the interestingly dressed Fundamentalist Church of Latter Day Saints ladies; she noted some designer was bound to get inspired for their Spring 09/10. Little did we know that the ladies themselves would be the first to commercialize their “look”. Like Calla said, pastel is in the air…
OMG one would think that the death of Yves Saint Laurent has left me so distraught I had nothing more to do but wear le smoking and mourn.
OMG one would think that the fact that I am so obsessed with the internet these days would make me write more often on my very own blog…funny that I look at some many throughout the day for work.
OMG I have been christened Communist Chanel; my dad wanted me to be an engineer or a Revolutionist a la Che Guevara instead I ended working in fashion and now am now fascinated my marketing reports
OMG my Facebook husband is leaving my for a Milanese lover.
Note: I have borrowed OMG from the great OMG blog.
Anyway, here a very mini recap since my last post:
I turned 20 something forever, piñatas have become a trend, I forgot to bring my camera at a tres chic Parisian event and dear Jeremy Laing got his photo taken by Bruce Weber.
Below all visuals with captions!

This video merits a lot of comments, but I am posting it as a tribute to the passing of Yves Saint Laurent and not to comment on how fashion has changed since the days of his early career.
He was truly a master of clothes rather than marketing, as so many contemporary designers are now. Anyway, he is a legend now so I hope he is resting in peace.
