I have been really bad at this blogging thing; over a month without a peep. So much for a diary…even worse, earlier today I tried to do it an my very long and already edited post was lost on a refreshing the page error! Here we go again.
Björk, M.I.A. and Interpol among other bands were in town for the Virgin Festival. Three observations.
1) It is nice to see that Interpol has achieved such commercial success, but does that mean they had to change their look so much? First off, Paul Banks, the lead singer, had wispy coiffed hair! Which was a far stretch from his look four years ago, that and his perfectly new looking ironed shirt were such a distraction I barely could concentrate on the music. Not to mentioned that I do not recall guitarist Daniel Kessler having the ” I feel the music” gyrating moves he exhibited this time. It seemed less “indie” and more “manufactured”.
2) I do not want to generalize, but why do Toronto crowds seem sometimes so bland. A perfectly good dancing tune like Bamboo Banga can be playing with the performer (M.I.A.)trying to get the crowd going and all people do is stare, like they are waiting for something other than the show to happen. Dance a little, get into it. It won’t hurt. Really.
3) Björk yet again delivered another beautiful performance and a great show. Being in the forefront of music she showcased on this tour a new electronic music instrument called the Reactable.
New York fashion week has come and gone, the fashion set is on their way out of London and now going to Milan and I have obviously had no comments so far. Here is something.
Jeremy Laing had his best collection yet! He was also a favourite of the media this season with Elle.com featuring him in the Bumble and Bumble designer diaries. Jeremy has been declared one of New York biggest up and coming designers.

Cool fashion site Refinery29 also had a video blog leading up to his NY Fashion Week show.
Let’s not forget that Jeremy is also now permanent fixture on style.com.
And nothing (other than Jeremy’s dresses) brought me more joy than looking thorough the Marc Jacobs collection with all its Surrealist and state of undress touches. It reminded me of Elsa Schiaparelli.
