Come to the boat of love!

Come to the boat of love!

This photo is a bit old, from the Met’s Costume Gala that happened earlier in the month. I just wanted to post it because Charlotte Gainsbourg looks incredible in the Balenciaga dress and shoes from the Fall 07 collection, and the intimate moment she is sharing with her husband director Ivan Attal makes her look naturally stylish. She is not posing, she is not trying, she just is.

The Cinemateque Ontario will have a stellar program this summer. A retrospective on the amazing Pedro Almodóvar, who though accused many times of being a misogynist has always portrayed the neurosis of women so crystal clear, Latin women that is, and all in Technicolour.
To commemorate 50 years of Janus Films, the independent film distributor, there will be screenings of such art film classics like Truffaut’s Jules and Jim, Bergman’s Monika, Fellini’s La Strada, Cocteau’s Belle et la Bête, Renoir’s The rules of the game, Buñuel ’s Viridiana, Godard’s Pierot Le fou, Kurosawa’s Rashomon, Demy’s The Umbrellas of Cherbourg, Carné’s Les Enfants du Paradis, Tati’s Playtime, amongst many more.
This line up is like a crash course on the best of film history.
And! Guy Maddin choses 6 silent classics for us to see.
It all starts June 1st

I will never forget a clip I saw in Fashion Television of Isabella Blow running around outside a Dior fashion show in what appeared to be a parachute. A cape fashioned like a parachute that is. It was a sight for excitable eyes and from that day on loved her eccentricity.
Ms. Blow passed away this week. Telegraph.co.uk
