The grown up Miu Miu?

Miucca Prada has always been considered a more cerebral type of designer; always ahead of the curve while remaining an immense commercial success; not to mention that editors have claimed she is the only reason they go to Milan.
So I wonder why Prada would chose the reigning queen of celebrity gossip Lindsey Lohan to be the face of Miu Miu? Blogs have showed images of the campaign with comments on her; the clothes; or the photography. Does no one else wonder why they used her though? Has commercialism really succumbed to a new low? I guess it is true that everyone is trying to focus on the new spenders: the 13 to 19 years old bracket. Does the Prada Group expect a million teens to beg their parents to buy them Miu Miu now? When the Miu Miu collection was brought to Paris two seasons ago editors were speaking of a grown up Miu Miu. So is Lindsay Lohan supposed to represent that?! A new sophistication?
Most people are fascinated with her because they have been inundated with images of her. Yes, the girl is beautiful and “stylish” but she seems very vapid, and a fabricated train wreck; she is a long way from showing any redeeming qualities. Dressing well-because of a stylist- and hanging out with the “right” crowd -beause of a publicist- is hardly an interesting talent.
Am I missing something on my view of her, if so, I would love to hear what.
I looked for clues or references, maybe the supposed inspiration for the collection- Russian Constructivism- would hold the answer but I think that was more about materials being used to create geometric objects.
So, why? Oh why such disappointment from such a great designer?!?
Granted, the doll effect in the photos is very nice, perhaps there lies the clue…
